DESCRIPTION:Parade Day Timeline: \nSOVAL will Meet between 8 AM and 9:15 AM at the festival field. You must enter from King St. See the attached map (attached document. \n– All participants arriving in a vehicle (walkers\, floats\, drop-offs\, etc.) must enter the front field. You will access the field from King St. There is no access from Ida Lee Drive. Please see the attached map.\n– Staff will be able to help you out. Please follow the directions of the staff\n– If you are walking and have no motorized float vehicles in the parade with you\, follow the direction of staff to park in the Festival Field parking area and then line up with parade participants. (See map)\n– All drop-offs must pull into the parking field and drive to the parking/drop-off area (see map). Cars are not\npermitted to drop participants off on the side of the road (King St or Ida Lee Dr.) \n– Drop-offs:\n– You may enter to drop off a participant and exit the field before 9:30 AM.\n– You may enter\, park your vehicle\, walk a participant to their party\, and then return to your vehicle to exit the field before 9:30 AM.\n– If you have a motorized float vehicle\, pull into the Festival Field through the gate on King St. Event staff will direct you where to go.\n– To avoid traffic delays\, we recommend that you arrive early. \n9:30 AM: Streets on King St from Battlefield Parkway to Fairfax Drive close.\n– All parade participants must be in the Festival Field by 9:15 AM.\n\n \n10 AM: Parade procession begins. \nNOTE: The parade will begin on time. However\, it will proceed slowly\, and it will take time for all participants to enter King Street from the festival field. \nYour parade conclusion: \n– The parade route is one mile and ends just before Fairfax St. (NOTED ON BELOW MAP) \n– NEW FOR 2025: At the end of the parade route you will be directed into lanes for exiting the parade route –We will NOT be utilizing Fairfax Dr. \n– Please keep moving and follow the direction of staff. \n– All floats must unload prior to exiting the parade route \n– All vehicles must take a left turn on Catoctin Cir. when exiting the parade route. \nThere is no return transportation provided back to Ida Lee Festival Field. DESCRIPTION:Special Olympics dance is a new sport for SOVAL at a gym that gives athletes a chance to learn new dances with friends and covers different types of dance styles (i.e.\, Zumba\, Jazz\, Contemporary\, Folk\, etc.). While official SO dance offers training and competitions for Solos\, Duos\, Couples and Teams\, this is our inaugural dance program which could lead to other programs. Come join us! Our goal is exercise\, fun and friendship. Athletes should wear sneakers as to not mess up the indoor flooring. Practices will be held at Method Health Club 19945 Riverside Commons Plaza\, Suite100\, Ashburn\, Va 20147 on Friday.
